1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Shadow Prox, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
2. Service Description
Shadow Prox is a personal safety application that detects Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices in your vicinity, identifies potential surveillance devices (trackers, cameras, ALPR systems), and shares detection data with the Shadow Prox community to build a crowdsourced surveillance awareness map.
3. Data Collection & Sharing
When you use Shadow Prox with an account, the following data is collected and may be shared:
- BLE Device Detections: Manufacturer data, signal strength, device type, and service UUIDs of detected Bluetooth devices. No personal data from the detected devices is collected.
- Surveillance Camera Locations: GPS coordinates and metadata of detected surveillance cameras and ALPR systems are shared with the Shadow Prox community and may be submitted to OpenStreetMap.
- Device Tags: Shadow Prox tag identifiers (12-byte hex codes) written to BLE devices for persistent identification across MAC address rotations.
- Account Information: Your email address (or Apple-assigned private relay address) is stored securely and never shared with third parties.
4. What We Do NOT Collect
- Your personal photos, contacts, messages, or browsing history
- Continuous GPS tracking of your location
- Personal data from other people's devices
- Audio or video recordings
- Data from devices you have marked as "safe" or owned
5. Your Rights
- Data Export: You can export all your collected data in CSV format at any time via the app's Settings.
- Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting support@shadowprox.com.
- Opt Out: You can use Shadow Prox in local-only mode without sharing data to the cloud (Free tier).
6. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use Shadow Prox to:
- Track, stalk, or harass any individual
- Interfere with or tamper with other people's BLE devices
- Submit false or misleading surveillance camera reports

7. Anti-Stalking Protections
Shadow Prox includes built-in anti-stalking protections:
- Users can only look up tags they created or have flagged as "avoid"
- Tag creator identities are never revealed to other users
- The "Am I Tagged?" feature allows users to check if their devices have been tagged by others
- Abuse reports are investigated and may result in account termination
8. Disclaimer
Shadow Prox is provided as-is for personal safety awareness. It is not a substitute for law enforcement or professional security services. Detection accuracy depends on device capabilities and environmental factors. We do not guarantee detection of all surveillance devices.

We may update these terms from time to time. Users will be notified of material changes via the app and asked to re-accept the updated terms.
